Are you actually saying that society doesn’t actively tell men not to be vulnerable? That doesn’t mean that they aren’t some times, but the messaging is pretty loud and clear. To be a “real man” in this culture is to be stoic, always in control, self-reliant to the point of alienation, etc., etc. The Good Men Project refers to it as “the man box.” It’s the “character” you see in every Hollywood blockbuster movie.
It seems more likely that you can help people have better relationships if you acknowledge the societal pressures that they are facing.
