If you're talking about quotas here I might be inclined to agree, but that's very rarely what is ever being asked for. Primarily, it's for artificial barriers to opportunity to be removed which allows women (and other marginalized people) to have an equal chance at their skills and talents being given the same weight as those of people who have held historical power - which I think is an entirely appropriate way to seek better balance.

Yes, power is not the only metric of balance, but a long-time historical deeply entrenched imbalance of power is nothing to sneeze at. And it's the primary reason that men in particular are not allowed to honor the feminine spirit within them. In a patriarchal society, things that are feminine are coded as less than and inferior. It's not the only way to address that, but having a better balance of societal power does tend to dispel that notion. You can't really claim that the feminine is also important if the culture persists in demonstrating that it's not important enough to have equal access to power.
