I’m not disagreeing — we live in a dominance hierarchy after all. The point of this though is that men are not afraid of being killed by women. But they are afraid of being laughed at by them — that’s more than just mere rejection. The dominance hierarchy demands being in full control at all times. So, if a woman laughs at you, it’s more than just a rejection. It’s a complete undercutting of your position in the hierarchy.

Women, on the other hand, endure many indignities at the hands of men, but ultimately what they are most concerned about is whether or not they are safe. There can be no equality when there is a fear about safety. And I totally agree that men worry about this as regards other men. Nearly all violence is perpetrated by males.
