In actual Germany, the entire country took responsibility for the fact that they allowed the Nazis to come to power and for sins of omission as well as well as actual acts of aggression. As a nation they've gone through a process of reconciliation and self-responsibility that Americans would do well to learn from. We could improve this nation greatly if we had the strength and fortitude of the people living in Germany.
