No, it's a silence women and redirect everything back to men mentality for some people. It's entirely appropriate to talk about the things that men are facing, but not as a way to deflect from or minimize what's going on for women - which is what these comments are always intended to do. As I say to these guys all the time, "Go write your own story, and I will be happy to listen to what you have to say and to support you, but stop hijacking women's stories as a way to signal to them that they don't have the right to express what is going on for them." Needless to say, they never do go write their own stories.
