Even where it isn't illegal, it is recognized as abusive and wrong by mental health, and medical professionals.

Strong people take responsibility for themselves and they deal with their own shit. They don't try to force someone else to manage their emotions for them by removing all of the triggers to their insecurities and they don't try to limit or control others in this way. Ultimatums are not communication.
