Steven Pinker is trained as a psychologist. He has no actual expertise in history or sociology. He consistently misrepresents data and champions philosophical ideals that have little interface with actual reality. So no, quoting him as some kind of authority counts for exactly nil.

Read The Darker Angels of Our Nature for a thorough take-down of Pinker written by actual experts in the fields that he pretends authority in. He's a crank.

And aside from that, how exactly are you going to refute somebody's expertise when you don't even know anything about or understand their theories? Until and unless you become fluent in cultural transformation theory, I don't think you've got anything meaningful to say about this.

Pinker's stupid generalizations aside, half of all women who are murdered in America are killed by current or former intimate partners. One in three women are raped or nearly raped. 85% of women have been sexually harassed - beginning in childhood.
