We know millions and millions of things about what life was like before it was written down and recorded. What exactly is your point?

For instance, sexual chastity wasn't a thing anyone cared about until patriarchy arose about 6-9k years ago. In addition, the term virgin used to mean something entirely different than it does now.

And that's Dr. Wine Mommy to you... 😉

"Artemis is the Greek virgin goddess of the moon and the hunt; she protects women in labor, small children and wild animals. Hestia is the Greek virgin goddess of the hearth. She never takes part in the struggle between men and gods.

Virginity and virgin were once terms of power, strength and independence, used to describe the goddesses who were immune to the temptations of Dionysus, Greek god of seduction and wine."

But the word didn’t always mean ‘untouched’. In fact, once upon a time, it was used specifically to describe a free woman - independent, autonomous, untied. Her own sovereign. Her own lover.
