Women participate in patriarchy, but to pretend that masculine norms that come out of a social system rooted in violent domination and the control of women isn't overwhelming the root of most of our modern social ills is to deny both reality and mainstream sociology.

As Elle often says, yes, we're all responsible for the culture that we have to some extent, but women didn't create or cultivate norms of violent domination for men. In addition, for most of history women have had little ability to challenge them in any meaningful way. Pretending like women have equal culpability is just fragile and delusional.

“Men’s violence against women is a pervasive social phenomenon with deep roots in existing personal, social, and institutional arrangements. In order for people to understand and ultimately work together to prevent it, it is first necessary for them to engage in a great deal of personal and collective introspection. This introspection can be especially threatening to men, because as perpetrators and bystanders, they are responsible for the bulk of the problem.”
